All work is completed and the project was accepted from the contractor as final on June 21, 2024.

This project built a 12 foot-wide paved multi-use trail in Brooksville.

This segment of the Good Neighbor Trail was constructed from west of the intersection of SR 50 and SR 50A along SR 50A/Jefferson Street to and through Tom Varn Park, then along US 41/Broad Street to Main Street, and along Main Street to Russell Street.


Project Updates

All of the trail is officially open!
Brooksville, FL –  Local leaders, government officials, and the public gathered in Tom Varn Park on Wednesday morning, May 22, 2024 to celebrate the opening of the latest segment of the Good Neighbor Trail through Brooksville. Speakers talked about the $20 million Florida Department of Transportation construction project that closed a significant gap in the trail system through the city. Attendees enjoyed walking/biking on the trail to and from the event. We hope everyone enjoys the new trail!

Southbound S Main Street has reopened!
Brooksville -- The southbound lane of S Main Street from E Liberty Street to south of Russell Street has reopened to traffic as of Saturday, December 2, 2023. All access is open, including roadway connections to S Main Street at Daniel, Lamar, and Hendrick avenuesDrivers can now travel in both directions of S Main Street. [The southbound lane closed June 8, 2023 for construction associated with the Good Neighbor Trail on the west side of S Main Street.]
